Art & Wine en Cariñena

Art & Wine at the Cariñena Wine Museum: watercolours, wine and landscapes on an autumn day

The Art & Wine event brought together around twenty people last Sunday at the Cariñena Wine Museum. The activity combined a walk through the vineyards, an art workshop with Beatriz Bertolín, an aperitif with wines from the Cariñena Designation of Origin, and a visit to the museum.

La Platera: starting point for Art & Wine in Cariñena to observe the vineyard in autumn

The day began in the natural surroundings of La Platera, where participants spent an hour walking through the local vineyards, collecting leaves and branches and observing the reddish, golden and orange tones of the landscape. This walk was part of the sensory experience and served as the basis for the subsequent artistic activity.

Mid-morning, the group returned to the Cariñena Wine Museum, where they enjoyed an informal aperitif accompanied by wines from the Cariñena Designation of Origin: Fábula Chardonnay (Bodega Paniza) and Particular Garnacha Joven (Bodega San Valero). This break encouraged conversation and connection between visitors in a relaxed atmosphere.

The art session took place inside the museum. Zaragoza-based artist Beatriz Bertolín, a senior illustration technician specialising in watercolour and botanical art, began the workshop with a brief introduction on the link between botany and artistic creation. She then explained how to use watercolour techniques to depict natural details and how to transfer the sensations gathered during a walk in the countryside onto paper.

During the workshop, attendees worked individually on compositions inspired by the wine-growing landscape, from vine leaves to panoramic views of the surroundings. To enrich the experience, the artist exhibited a small sample of her own works and illustrative examples, which served as inspiration for those participating.

Final tour of the Cariñena Wine Museum

Once the artistic session was over, the group visited the Cariñena Wine Museum, where they were able to learn in depth about the museum’s heritage and its informative approach to the history of wine in the region. This museum has established itself as the centrepiece of Cariñena’s wine tourism offering, with more than 2,200 visitors since its opening.

Commitment to art and the region

The Cariñena Wine Museum maintains its strategic approach of organising activities that link wine, art, nature and culture. The Art & Wine celebration responds to the institutional objective of consolidating the museum as a dynamic space for diverse audiences. As highlighted by the organising team, these initiatives allow for ‘activating the territory from an experiential perspective’, highlighting the value of the wine-growing landscape and its potential as a cultural resource.
